Here are two still life subjects for February recalling sunnier days. I wanted to show that a still life doesn't need to be set up with background and lights, but any snap will do. Simplified elements can be edited to create the interest you want. I loved these colourful roses in the summer and put them in a glass on the table. The thing I wanted to convey in my painting was the strong light source on the flowers. The background and foreground are totally irrelevant to the subject and are very simply rendered in a neutral – emphasizing dark against light.This little palette knife painting took about 20 minutes and was great fun to do.
